Lane Igoudin, MA, PhD

Professor of ESL and Linguistics
English/ESL Department
Los Angeles City College

Welcome to my research and teaching website! An LACC faculty member since 2005, I teach English and linguistics courses and contribute to language curriculum development and assessment.

My research focuses on strategies for teaching multilingual student writers and fostering learning environments that welcome, affirm, and engage their cultural and linguistic heritages.

I have contributed chapters on these topics to academic volumes (Routledge 2020, 2023), presented at national and international conferences (AILA 2008, 2017, 2021, 2023; CATESOL 2009-2017), moderated literary conference panels (AWP 2020, 2022) and conducted faculty training seminars (2015, 2017, 2023).

My educational background includes a Master’s degree from CSU Long Beach and a doctorate from Stanford University. In 2018-2019, I served as an Andrew W. Mellon Fellow with the Excellence in Pedagogy and Innovative Classrooms program at the Humanities Division of UCLA.
